Bio

My name is Joselyn Kirstein. Growing up I was always active, so when I went to college I knew I wanted to major in something that would not land me behind a desk.  I decided on Exercise Science, and minored in Wellness/ Fitness.   After graduation, I married my husband (and the Air Force) and travel many times over, keeping myself busy with three little ones. Since I was always active, my weight was never an issue.

My second pregnancy however took me to weighing a little over 200 pounds.  I know what it’s like to not recognize the reflection in the mirror.  For the first time in my life I had to up the exercise and start tracking my food.  It was hard, but it was even harder for me to look in the mirror and not be happy with what I saw.  It took a little over 9 months to get back to my old self, but I was able to do it with daily exercise and proper nutrition.

As the kids grew older and all started school, I found myself with more time and I decided to start to train for my first sprint triathlon.  I was hooked!  Since I was spending so much time in the gym training and with my background in college, I decided to get my Personal Training Certification through AFAA in 2013. Since then, I have completed many half marathons and several triathlons.

My greatest fitness accomplishment so far is the Chattanooga Half-Ironman, in May 17, 2015. Every year I choose a certain goal.  One year it was to complete my first marathon, Rocket City Marathon (2016) and this year it was to enroll in my first ever dance class-Adult Hip Hop!

I love pushing myself out of my comfort zone and seeing what I can accomplish.  I also want this for my clients.  Nothing ever changes if you remain where you are, doing the same thing day in, day out.  I pride myself in learning how to motivate and push each of my clients.  Sometimes all it takes is having someone to believe in you…and that person is me!

If there was one thing I would want my future clients know, it is that everyone was a beginner at one time. You don’t get to where you want to go instantly…it takes time, dedication, and hard work.  I find it so rewarding to see my clients get stronger and find happiness in being active.

Mission Statement

My top three most important things in a personal training session are:

1) Make it fun.  You are more likely to keep at it if you enjoy what you are doing,

2) Tailor the exercise program to the client’s needs or goals.  Every exercise will be based on what level you start at (from the initial assessment), and will progress to challenge you to obtain your goals, and

3) Safety and form are paramount!  My job is to teach you the proper form of every movement and keep you safe throughout the process.
